My goodness, Almut and Chuck, you have an incredible way of writing such honest and aching words that yet offer hope, peace, goodness. So many of us are in that liminal space... I always save your posts until I can truly read, reflect, and find some comfort. Thank you. Bless you.
Bruce, Good to hear from you! And you are right, Almut's writing often has multiple levels of meaning and her word choice and phrasing have resonance in multiple directions. It comes, I think from both her life experience and from her immersion in so many different kinds of scholarly literatures. And yet it is not showy, but simple, direct, and deeply spiritual. So she can do Rock-n-roll (or what the Germans call Ost-rock, rock from the East), Bach, and Hildegard or Kierkegaard at the same time.
I’m currently in an in-between space, recovering from cancer treatment, forced to move from doing to being. Thank you for putting words to where i am at and giving me hope that there may be some buried treasure here.❤️
Almut, thank you for your prayers and words to us on your voyage. My heart goes out to you as you connect with your aging parents. This passage of aging, I am reminded, is a holy time, and your being there is a pilgrimage of its own. Thank you too for being a voice of two countries in different stages of similar struggle. As tragic as it is over the ages and now, I agree with you that there is something holy waiting to be birthed. Your personal experiences shared are bridges across countries and global support systems.
Thank you for the wonderful music -- "At the Window" made a perfect backdrop for late summer afternoon reflections on what is past and what is ahead.
So good to hear, Anne, and greetings from Germany to you 🙏

Thank you, S Stephanie, and Let’s hope this birth will not take 40 years 😇
In the darkness of this day in America, I needed this bench in the orchard near the chapel. Thank you fr taking me there.
